365 days. Day 346.
If you’ve seen the news at all you know that Washington is in sore shape right now. To say we’ve had a bit of rain would be an understatement. We’ve had at least two fucktons. Perhaps more. Several towns are severely flooded. Roads are washed out. Highways are closed due to mudslides. Lots of evacuations. Lots of rushing rivers and overrun banks. We didn’t get the brunt of it where we are. We got a lot of dark and dreary, pouring rain and lots of wind. But the only “flooding” we had to contend with was a leaky window due to a siding mishap from last summer’s project. A seal was missed. It’s being fixed. No big. But the damage we’ve seen north and south of us is overwhelming. Rivers have taken over whole towns. People are kayaking down main street. Washington declared a state of emergency. It’s sobering for sure. But Washington has a way of doing things… after too much gloom and grey and drippy skies, we get this wild sunshine bursting through, casting glittery raindrops across everything everywhere. That’s what happened today. Wild sunshine. Bursting beauty. It’s really something to see. And all the people throw on their coats and hats and sunglasses and step out into the light and breathe deep. And sigh at the supreme beauty that is Washington.
